Visitors wanting to paddle the James Branch Water Trail may put in at the Records Pond Boat Ramp and paddle upstream approximately 5 miles to Hitch Pond road. See map.

Guided Paddling Trips

Are you nervous about paddling for the first time? Don't have a kayak or canoe? Perhaps you just want to paddle with a group. Join our state park staff on a guided canoe or kayak trip! Full Moon Kayak at Lums Pond State Park

Enjoy an evening of kayaking underneath a full moon. Bring water and a flashlight. Participants must have basic kayak skill and be 14 or older. Rain date is the following evening. Meet at the Boathouse in Area 2. $20 per person


Sunset Kayak at Lums Pond State Park

Swamp Kayak Tour at Trap Pond State Park

Enjoy an easy two-hour, guided canoe trip of Trap Pond. Look for Great Blue Herons, eagles and other wildlife as we paddle along the pondís edge. Basic instruction will be given at the beginning of the program. $15 per person


Delaware Breakwater Kayak Eco-Tour at Cape Henlopen State Park - Kayak Shack at the Fishing Pier

Naturalists and trained instructors lead you on an eco-tour of the lower Delaware Bay. These two-hour trips on sit-on-top kayaks are designed for beginner paddlers, but can be strenuous depending on weather conditions. All equipment is provided. Bring drinking water and sunscreen, and be prepared to get wet. Secure shoes are required - no flip flops! For ages 8 and older; children ages 8 to 13 must be in a tandem kayak with an adult. All children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Space is limited and pre-registration is required by calling 302-645-6852. $25 per solo kayak and $35 per tandem kayak
