Delaware State Parks offer summer day camps all over Delaware, from Alapocas Run State Park in Wilmington to Cape Henlopen in Lewes, and plenty in between! Check back in January for details and registration information for our 2019 camps.

Young Explorers Camp: A Walk in the Woods - FULL - Bellevue State Park

For ages 4 to 5

Spend the week on a sensory safari discovering the fantastic five senses and how both animals and people use them to explore their world!

Nature Explorers Session I - Brandywine Creek State Park

For ages 5 to 7

Become a Nature Sleuth! Explore the forests, meadows, and marshes here at the park! Discover a new animal and its habitat each day through fun activities like hikes, creek investigations, nature games, and crafts. We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! We roast hotdogs and s’mores and enjoy lemonade to toast the end of a fun week of camp!

Ultimate Survivor - Killens Pond State Park

For ages 10 to 13

Learn all the ins and outs of camping in a primitive setting! By the end of the week campers will know how to pitch a tent, fire safety, shelter building, and much more! The week will end with an overnight on Thursday at the Nature Center to put our camping skills to the ultimate test. Dinner on Thursday, breakfast and lunch on Friday will be provided.

Storybook adventures ahead! Each day we will read and discuss an animal tale then immerse ourselves in the story’s theme with crafts, games, and related animal activities.

For ages 4 to 6

Campers will spend lots of time in and near the creek looking for critters big and small. Our days include learning about habitats, turtles, mammals, water games and crafting! Plenty of outside play and time to make new friends. Discovery Camp Lunch Bunch available, Noon – 1 p.m. Pack a lunch, extend the friend time and stay an extra hour for a picnic, story and fun time. Pick up is at 1 p.m. $30 per week or $10 per day

Outdoor Adventure Camp Session I - Brandywine Creek State Park

For ages 11 to 14

Outdoor sports such as hiking, canoeing, disc golf, learning survival skills like building shelters, orienteering, geocaching and rock climbing will be part of your camper’s adventurous week! They will also go fishing, tube the creek, and play games. Campers travel to other parks for some activities. Campers must be able to swim. No aftercare available. We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! We roast hotdogs and s’mores and enjoy lemonade to toast the end of a fun week of camp!

Every day has a new theme that campers will explore! Trailblazers - Trap Pond State Park

For ages 10 to 14

Camp at Trap Pond for a week and develop your survival skills. This week we will explore what Trap Pond has to offer: hiking, canoeing, fishing, and more! This camp includes three overnight stays (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in our primitive camping area with planned night activities. Two day trips will be provided: the beach at Cape Henlopen State Park and the Killens Pond Waterpark. Food and tents will be provided. Travel time to Cape: one hour. Travel time to Killens: 45 minutes.

Caring for Animals - White Clay Creek State Park

Who will take home the 2019 Ultimate Games Trophy? Spend two days practicing relays and on-the-water games as we build our competition skills in this three-day camp that ends in a friendly competition event between campers from Bellevue, White Clay, and Lums Pond State Parks.

Jr. Zoo Keepers: Basics (A) - Brandywine Zoo

For ages 8 to 12

Have you always wanted to be a zoo keeper? If so, get ready for a fun filled week discovering what it takes to work at the zoo through hands-on activities and projects. Campers will be able to see how animals are cared for, visit behind-the-scenes areas, and learn what it takes to be a keeper of the kingdom! Please note campers will have limited contact with select animals. It is highly recommended that attending campers be able to independently complete physically challenging activities with limited assistance and be able to safely come into contact with allergens such as animal dander and hay. Campers may only register for one session per age group.

Nature is wacky and wonderful, join us as we make things fly, ooze and light up, and drop things from the roof! Campers will perform fun, safe experiments to power a potato, build an egg parachute, build a kite, make a film canister rocket, make their own ice cream, rock candy and more! We will use our science skills as we explore hiking trails, tube the Brandywine, and stomp through the creek! We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! Learn to tackle the tasks of a park ranger in this camp about adventures and conservation. Includes an exciting adventure on a rescue boat, kayaking at Lums Pond and learning how to track animals in the park. Must be able to swim.

Junior Lifeguard Program - Cape Henlopen State Park

For ages 9 to 16

The Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol is once again offering a Junior Lifeguard Program for kids ages 9 to 16. This fun and educational program is designed to teach the importance of water safety, surf rescue techniques, minor first aid, and respect for natural resources, and to provide participants with the knowledge and experience of true ocean rescuers. Junior Lifeguards are eligible to register as United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) members and/or compete in USLA Junior Competitions. Junior Lifeguards in the 14- to 16-year-old age bracket looking to learn more about full-time guarding may enroll in our mentoring program at no additional charge, which runs from 9 a.m. to -1 p.m. each Thursday. Important: Cape Henlopen State Park has 2 separate registration packets available – you must use the Junior Lifeguard packet to register for this program.

Explore the outdoors and learn to live off the land! Fishing Frenzy - Killens Pond State Park

For ages 10 to 13

Explore all the great fishing spots in Delaware state parks by travelling to Silver Lake, Lums Pond, Trap Pond, and Cape Henlopen! We will learn techniques for fishing with poles and nets of many sizes, come with us to experience the pro angler inside your heart. Travel Times: Silver Lake (20 minutes), Trap Pond (45 minutes), Lums Pond (1 hour), and Cape Henlopen (1 hour).

Wildlife Ranger Adventures - Lums Pond State Park

Kayak the pond in search of wildlife and learn about the adventures you can have when working with wildlife! Best of Boat Worlds - Killens Pond State Park

For ages 9 to 12

In this travelling camp we will be experiencing all of the different ways to be out on the water. Enjoy a pontoon boat tour at Trap Pond State Park, take a ride on some canoes here at Killens and slide on into peddle boats at Lums Pond! Travel Times: Trap Pond (45 minutes), Lums Pond (1 hour).

Awesome Outdoors Camp - Lums Pond State Park

For ages 10 to 13

Hone those outdoor survival skills by making bamboo fishing poles, hiking sticks, and lean-tos. Meet outdoor professionals who will teach campfire making, tracking, and archery. As a special treat campers will be able to meet Delaware State Parks’ new K9, Leo, who has some outdoor skills of his own! Includes an outdoor recreation field trip.

Nature Wonders Session II - Brandywine Creek State Park

For ages 4 to 6

July 22 - July 26, 9 a.m. - Noon

Spend time outside splashing in the creek, hunting insects, exploring trails, and looking for animal tracks. Learn about the marvels of nature playing exciting games and making crafts to take home. Every day has a new theme that campers will explore! Nature Wonders Lunch Bunch available, Noon-1 p.m.: Pack a lunch so your Nature Wonders camper can stay an extra hour to have a picnic, story, and fun time with our Camp Staff! $30 per week/session.

Jr. Zoo Keepers: Advanced (B) - Brandywine Zoo

For ages 11 to 15

Have you always wanted to be a zoo keeper? If so, get ready for a fun filled week discovering what it takes to work at the zoo through hands-on activities and projects. Campers will be able to see how animals are cared for, visit behind-the-scenes areas, and learn what it takes to be a keeper of the kingdom! Please note campers will have limited contact with select animals. It is highly recommended that attending campers be able to independently complete physically challenging activities with limited assistance and be able to safely come into contact with allergens such as animal dander and hay. Campers may only register for one session per age group.

Animal Super Powers! - Brandywine Zoo

For ages 6 to 10

Animals have amazing super powers to help them survive in their environments! Learn about different animal powers and adaptations through activities, crafts, and live animal encounters.

Calling All Creatures - Cape Henlopen State Park

Outdoor Adventure Skills - White Clay Creek State Park

For ages 11 to 14

July 22 - July 26, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Challenge yourself as we go rock climbing at Alapocas, kayak at Lums Pond and mountain bike (mountain bikes are available to borrow or bring your own) at White Clay. Finish the week with a bike ride to a cool spot in town. Campers must bring a properly fitted, CPSC-approved helmet and be able to swim.

Wilderness Survival Session II - Brandywine Creek State Park

For ages 7 to 10

Explore the outdoors and learn to live off the land! Along with learning Leave No Trace skills, campers will learn how to put up a tent, build a campfire, build a survival shelter, identify plants, track animals and study how to use a compass, fishing, river safety and more. Fun, safe experiences will teach campers how to be better prepared for outdoor adventures. We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! We roast hotdogs and s’mores and enjoy lemonade to toast the end of a fun week of camp!

Slither, Slime, and Climb: Animal Adaptation Camp - Lums Pond State Park

Animals have wild adaptations for survival! Fish can make slime to slip away from trouble. Snakes can slither their bodies through tiny spaces. Flying squirrels can soar from tree to tree. We will explore animal adaptations through up-close encounters with real live animal guests and a rock climbing field trip then try our hand at a few science experiments (including slime) to learn more about wild survival!

We will also have the chance to see aquatic animals from a pontoon boat and a canoe. Find out where the wild things are at this exciting camp! Travel time to Salisbury Zoo: 25 minutes.

Single Track Shredders: WCCSP Mountain Bike Focused Camp - White Clay Creek State Park

For ages 12 to 15

This camp is specifically designed for experienced bikers with six or more miles of all-terrain experience. Join other avid young bikers from the region for a week-long mountain biking experience. The week includes rides at White Clay Creek, Brandywine Creek and Middle Run trails. Bike repair, riding techniques, behind the scenes at a bike shop, and coolin’ off in the creek are all part of the week. Campers should bring their own mountain bike (bikes are available to borrow) and a properly fitted, CPSC-approved helmet, bike gloves and be able to swim.

Outdoor Adventure Camp Session III - Brandywine Creek State Park

For ages 11 to 14

Outdoor sports such as hiking, canoeing, disc golf, learning survival skills like building shelters, orienteering, geocaching and rock climbing will be part of your camper’s adventurous week! They will also go fishing, tube the creek, and play games. Campers travel to other parks for some activities. Campers must be able to swim. No aftercare available. We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! We roast hotdogs and s’mores and enjoy lemonade to toast the end of a fun week of camp!

Nature Arts Camp - Brandywine Creek State Park

Join our Art School Camp Counselors and spend the week creating art in the park! Each day will feature a different artistic technique campers will learn, including watercolors, acrylic paints, sketching, plein air drawing & painting. Parents will join us for an art show at the end of the week! We’ll have a campfire cookout on the last day of camp! We roast hotdogs and s’mores and enjoy lemonade to toast the end of a fun week of camp!

Time Travelers - Killens Pond State Park

For ages 9 to 12

Travel back in time in this week of camp with trips to Fort Delaware, the John Dickinson Plantation, and Fort Miles in Cape Henlopen. Travel times: Fort Delaware (1 hour), John Dickinson (30 minutes), Fort Miles (1 hour).

Lums Pond Water Warriors - Lums Pond State Park

For ages 10 to 13

Campers will become water warriors after kayaking and paddle boating the largest pond in Delaware, tubing down the Brandywine, traveling to Fort Delaware State Park by boat and splashing around the Killens Pond Water Park!

Visit different local sites throughout the week to participate in daily service projects and learn about the organization’s activities and volunteer opportunities. Service projects include experiences such as packing food, a canoe clean-up, and gardening. This qualifies for hours of service needed for school. Camp WCC Survivor combines the challenge of survival with the spirit of competition. Make your own raft, get first-hand experience in wilderness survival, boating, fishing, outdoor cooking and much more. Teamwork and leadership are the key to surviving this week. Must be able to swim.

Each day, explore a nature topic through a hands-on hike and nature craft. Daily activities relate to the theme of the week and are documented on our “Look What We Did Today” wall for parents to see.
