The Honey Badgers’ folk/Americana sound has been likened to that of The Civil Wars and The Swell Season. They are known for their intense, unique harmonies, their sincere lyrics and melodies, and their undeniable onstage chemistry. Weaving their voices together over driving guitar, lonesome violin, and punchy harmonica, The Honey Badgers create a sound that is heartfelt, thoughtful, and satisfying.

Bethlehem and the songwriter by the name of "Sad" Patrick met at an open mic that Sad started in a local coffee shop in the Northwest Philadelphia neighborhood they both share. Bethlehem quickly became the main event of the evening, drawing neighbors, friends and strangers alike with her earthy, honest voice. With the voice of a diva, but always approachable and amicable, Bethlehem won the hearts of the regulars. With his themes of love and loss, he enticed her to interpret his songs

Take two accomplished musicians from different continents with different musical backgrounds, put them in the same room and listen to what happens. Maryland native George Harvey and Bavarian transplant Ossi Becke are two such musicians. As a percussionist, Ossi has played just about every style of music imaginable – from traditional German “Beer Barrel” Polka music to American folk/rock. Aside from living in America and Bavaria, Ossi has traveled extensively throughout Europe, India, Indonesia, Peru, and Bolivia. It is evident, as a percussionist, he has absorbed the rhythms and flavors of these different cultures. George holds down the melodic end of things on guitar, piano and vocals. Heavily rooted in rock and country music with a healthy dose of Americana thrown in, he moves easily from style to style. His vocal range is wide enough to cover the musical gamut, from Clapton to Ray to Eddie Vetter and back again. For the past 23 years or so, the duo has been delighting audiences in the Mid-Atlantic region with their driving original songs and uniquely arranged classics. Ed Solomon, Sound Engineer for The Seldom Scene.

Jason Ager is a dedicated father, a passionate college professor, and a hyper-literate original songwriter. Balancing a PhD in German Literature with a few days a week as a stay-at-home dad, Jason still plays more than 100 shows a year in the Mid-Atlantic region and beyond. On his third album, Porchlight, Ager’s talent as a storyteller shines as he weaves together the academic and the arcane into clever lyrics that reward the careful listener. Nestled comfortably atop classic soul, R&B, and rock influences, songs like “Overload” and “Everybody Needs Love” epitomize Jason’s ability to rouse hearts and minds in the same breath.

A simplistic indie/folk duo, AFTYN are hellbent on keeping it personal. Comprised of members Guinnevere Philipp and Chris Maher, AFTYN aims to evoke an updated 70’s folk sound, blended with both classic and alternative influences. Soothing melodies and raw instrumentation are the core of the duo, who self describe themselves as ‘modern hippies’. Their approach to live shows is uniquely down to earth, keeping their setup stripped back so they can engage the crowd with their relaxed, folk-driven sound. The duo is currently writing their next EP which will continue their journey.

The blending of their voices, their personalities and their takes on life, mixes itself up into something tangible; you’ll feel it when you hear them – like the taste of the salt spray in the air where they live, in three small towns on the Atlantic coast of Delaware. Hearty Americana, leathery Country and bluesy Gospel would come close to describing the sound.
