Alapocas Run State Park

A pavilion and picnic area with tables and grills are located on the east side of the park, near the Can-Do Playground. Besides the Can-Do Playground, a barrier-free playing area for children of all abilities, the park features athletic fields and hiking trails. Pavilion capacity is 50 people. Alcohol and balloons are not permitted.

Bellevue State Park

Two pavilions are available for rental. Each pavilion has a large grill, volleyball court and horseshoe pits. Game bags may be rented when you rent a pavilion. Two picnic areas, each with picnic tables and a small grill, are also available for rental. Picnic table with small grills available on a first-come, first-served basis are scattered throughout the park. No balloons, confetti, or amplified music. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Entry fees are not included in a pavilion or picnic area reservation.

Brandywine Creek State Park

One large pavilion with a capacity of 80 is available to rent. A picnic area with a capacity of 50 is also available to rent. Picnic tables with small grills are located near Hawk Watch Hill, the Amphitheater, and the Thompson's Bridge parking lot. Alcohol in bottles or cans is permitted in the pavilion area.

Cape Henlopen State Park

This park offers two pavilions for rent. The Main Beach Pavilion (Does Not include the Hawk Watch pavilion) offers two event-size barbecue grills, electricity, potable water, picnic tables seating up to two hundred people. Nearby is a disc golf course, basketball court and many trails. The Gordon’s Pond Pavilion offers one event size barbecue grill, electricity and potable water and picnic tables seating up to fifty people. Both pavilions have pedestrian dune crossing access to the beach. Alcohol is permitted in the pavilion areas but is not allowed on swimming beaches. The Fishing Pier Pavilion is not reserved. It is a first-come, first-served basis only.

Delaware Seashore State Park

A pavilion is available on the bayside at Savages Ditch Road on a first-come, first-served basis with no rental fee. There are picnic tables and free-standing grills at Towers Road and the South Inlet Day Area (guarded beaches). Gas or charcoal grills may be used at these beaches and in surf fishing areas. Alcohol is permitted at surf-fishing beaches. Accessible ramps can be found at the guarded beaches and there is a non-motorized boat ramp at New Road.

Fenwick Island State Park

Picnic tables are placed outside the concession area. Visitors may bring gas or charcoal grills to use outside of the guarded area at the discretion of the lifeguard. Alcohol is permitted on surf fishing beaches.

Fort Delaware State Park

A new fully enclosed, handicap accessible pavilion is available for rent on Pea Patch Island, directly adjacent to the fort. Pavilion includes ceiling fans, picnic tables, 15 amp electric and can accommodate up to 50 people. There are two picnic areas with tables on Pea Patch Island. One is located outside the Fort, and the other is located inside, in the food concession area. Small charcoal grills are located in the picnic area outside the Fort, but visitors must take used charcoal and ashes with them when they leave. Alcohol is not permitted on Pea Patch Island.

Fox Point State Park

Three pavilions, with a capacity of 125 each, are available for rent. Each pavilion has a large grill and horseshoe pits. One pavilion has 20 tables, and two pavilions have 12 tables each. The pavilions share a volleyball court. Vehicles are not allowed at the pavilions. No alcohol, balloons, confetti, or amplified music. Holts Landing State Park

The pavilion at this park features picnic tables and a large grill. Alcohol is permitted with the exception of beer kegs and glass bottles. The park also features a 24-hour boat ramp and a crabbing and fishing pier.

Killens Pond State Park

Rental pavilions include picnic tables, a large charcoal grill, water, electric and trash removal. There are also three picnic areas available to rent, they do not include trash removal or electric. These are separated from the picnic areas that are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Small portable gas grills are permitted as is alcohol, with the exception of beer kegs. DJs/amplified music is permitted, and you must have prior permission from the park. Also, as long as volume is at a reasonable level, in the Sports Complex Pavilion only (Pavilion #1). There is an additional fee of $35 for any D.J./amplified music. If you wish to use space outside of the pavilion (vendors, inflatables, tents, etc) you must have prior permission from the park and pay a special use fee. No balloons of any kind, and no confetti is permitted (view the balloon hazzard flyer).

Lums Pond State Park

The park is divided into five distinct areas. Each area includes restrooms and has either a pavilion to rent, picnic areas that are available for reservations, picnic areas that are available on a first-come, first-served basis, or a combination.

Sports equipment bags are available for rental. All areas have access to the Swamp Forest Trail, which circles the pond, and the Little Jersey Trail. Parking is also available in each area.

Area 1

Area 1 has two pavilions, with a capacity of 96 each, available to rent. Both pavilions have electric, water, 12 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. One picnic area, with a capacity of 96, is also available to rent and has 12 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. This area also features a disc golf course, horseshoe pits, the Go Ape Adventure Course, and vending machines. Restrooms are available. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Keg beer is not allowed.

Area 2

Area 2 has a pavilion, with a capacity of 112, available to rent. This pavilion has 14 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. One large picnic area, with a capacity of 112, is also available for rent and has 14 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. Other amenities include boat rentals, a playground, tennis, badminton, basketball and volleyball courts, and horseshoe pits. Restrooms are available. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Keg beer is not allowed.

Area 3

Area 3 has a pavilion, with a capacity of 112, available to rent. This pavilion has 14 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. Amenities include horseshoes and reservable baseball, softball, volleyball, and soccer /football fields. Restrooms are available. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Keg beer is not allowed.

Area 4

Area 4 has a pavilion, with a capacity of 112, available to rent. This pavilion has 14 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. One picnic area, with a capacity of 112 is also available for rent and has 14 picnic tables and a large charcoal grill. Visitors to Area 4 can take advantage of the Life Course Trail and horseshoe pits. Restrooms are available. Alcohol is permitted in cans or bottles. Keg beer is not allowed.

Area 5

Area 5 is across the street from the Whale Wallow Nature Center and has picnic tables available on a first-come, first-served basis. The fishing pier and Sensory Loop are nearby. Restrooms are available.

Trap Pond State Park

Four pavilions are available for rentals. The two that are located in the Cypress Point area of the park are close together and are rented as one unit. The others are located in the main picnic area of the park. Also at Cypress Point and in the main picnic area are grills and tables that are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

White Clay Creek State Park

The pavilion at White Clay Creek is available by advanced reservation. Accommodating 100 to 150 people, it features a large grill, a volleyball net and a horseshoe pit. Restrooms, a playground, hiking trails and a disc golf course are located nearby. The park also has a smaller picnic area with small grills that is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Alcohol is permitted in bottles and cans in the pavilion/picnic area only.

Wilmington State Parks

There are two picnic areas in Brandywine Park and one in Rockford Park that are available to reserve, and grills are located throughout the two parks. Nearby, visitors will find baseball, softball and multi-use fields, hiking trails, the Jasper Crane Rose Garden and the Brandywine Zoo. Alcohol is not permitted. Make a reservation

Important information about making a pavilion or picnic area reservation

The following information will help you better navigate the new system and quickly make your reservation.

  1. Know the date you want to reserve the picnic area
  2. Know the park where you want to have your event. If reserving online, click the "Reserve Now!" button next to the park of your choice.
  3. Several parks have more than one pavilion and picnic area, so you’ll want to know the site name you want to reserve. Park maps are available on our reservation system website if you are not familiar with the location.
  4. Have your contact information available (name, address, day phone, etc.). This is needed should the park staff need to contact you at a later date.

Payment

  • Walk-in Reservations  - cash, check and credit card (Visa, MasterCard) are accepted. 
  • Internet Reservations – Credit card Only (Visa, MasterCard).
  • Call Center Reservations at 1-877-98-PARKS.  Credit card and check are accepted.  Payments by check must be received within 10 days of the reservation or the reservation will be voided.NOTE:  Telephone reservations are not accepted at state park offices, but will to be forwarded to the call center.

Cancellation Policy

A $30 cancellation fee is charged if you cancel your reservation more than 30 days in advance of your reservation date.

No refunds are made for pavilion reservations that are cancelled 30 days or fewer in advance of your reservation date.

Other Information

You may reserve as early as one year in advance of your preferred date.

If your desired date is unavailable, you may sign up to receive notification by e-mail if we receive a cancellation for that date.

Delaware State Parks practice Carry-In, Carry-Out, so please bring bags to take your trash out with you. Some parks permit alcohol in certain areas -- visit our picnic locations page for more information.

Be sure to bring what you need for the perfect picnic, but remember to leave your pets at home.

    Please have your 501c3 number available when making the reservation. Your reservation may not be accepted if proof of your non-profit status is not presented.
  • State of Delaware Agencies
    Payment for reservations will only be accepted by credit cards or check. With the new automated system, IVs are no longer accepted as a form of payment.
