Fishing at Delaware State Parks

Delaware State Parks offer freshwater, saltwater and offshore fishing, as well as clamming and crabbing, and this page will help you plan your perfect fishing adventure! A general fishing license is required for fishing, crabbing, or clamming in tidal and non-tidal waters in Delaware. The Delaware Fishing Guide, a publication of the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control's Division of Fish & Wildlife, provides comprehensive information about fishing in Delaware.

Salt Water Fishing

Delaware State Parks provide a great opportunity to fish from a pier, from the beach or even along banks of the Indian River Inlet. Be sure to check out the how-to video and make sure you have a surf fishing vehicle permit if you plan to drive on the beach.

Off-Shore Fishing

For those looking for the challenge of fishing in deeper waters, the charter fleet at Delaware Seashore State Park's Indian River Marina will get you out to some of the finest fishing grounds on the east coast. Wahoo, yellow and blue fin tuna, flounder, drum, sea bass, mackerel, flounder, sea bass, sea trout, blue fish, rockfish, tautog, tuna, shark, swordfish, and other big keepers are brought in regularly.

Beach Driving Clinic

Delaware Seashore State Park

Learn park rules, licensing requirements and tips from park staff to maximize your safety while driving on the beach. Then, follow park staff out to the beach to practice driving on the sand. (Participants must have a valid surf tag and the necessary equipment to do so.) Online registration ends 24 hours prior to program. After that, please call 302-227-6991. $20 per person

Have you always wanted to try surf fishing but weren’t sure how to get started? If so, this program is for you! Everything from fish identification to proper casting techniques will be covered in this three-hour program. Rods, reels and bait are provided. Ages 12 and up. Those under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult. Pre-registration required. Call 302-227-6991 to register. $25 per person. Online program registration ends 24 hours prior to program.
