COVID-19 Notice

Face coverings are not required for vaccinated participants. Unvaccinated participants should continue to wear face coverings indoors and when social distancing cannot take place. Any participant may elect to wear a face covering and should follow CDC recommendations.

If you answer yes to any of the following questions, you are not able to participate in any Delaware State Parks program:

  1. In the last 14 days, have you (if unvaccinated) been exposed (Within 6 feet for at least 15 minutes) to someone that recently tested positive for Covid-19?
  2. In the last 48 hours, have you had any of the following symptoms?
    • Fever of 100.4 F or above (or symptoms like alternating shivering and sweating)
    • New cough
    • New trouble breathing, shortness of breath or severe wheezing
    • New chills or shaking with chills
    • Sore throat
    • Vomiting or diarrhea
    • New loss of smell or taste, or a change in taste
    • Nausea
    • Fatigue
    • Headache, congestion or runny nose with no other known cause (such as allergies)

It is a tremendous task to manage, protect and interpret the natural and cultural resources entrusted to Delaware State Parks. Our hardworking staff relies on dedicated volunteers like you to help fulfill that mission!

In as little as 2 hours, individuals and groups can make a difference in Delaware State Parks. They come from every corner of our state, and represent the wonderful diversity to be found in Delaware:

This provides us with information to help better understand your interests and availability and match these against the help needed in the park, guiding us to prepare for a successful and rewarding volunteer activity.

From as few as 5 to as many as hundreds, volunteer groups can make a big impact in our parks – We work with you to coordinate a project specific to your groups schedule and interests, such as:

  • Painting/light construction
  • Special events

Delaware State Parks Internship Program - provides opportunities for qualified students and career-focused graduates to apply learned theory and experience to practical situations and to observe an organization first-hand. is a training program that provides practical work experience and valuable training in the many and varied careers in the State Park system.

Volunteer Host Program - Individuals and couples with an RV volunteer in campgrounds and parks and receive a free campsite.

Work-Based Learning Program - school year, team-based, volunteer program for high school juniors and seniors providing meaningful hands-on park projects as a means of connecting academic work with practical job readiness skills in a real-world workplace environment. Not just for those interested in environmental or conservation careers. Students select morning or afternoon slots to fit their schedule. In partnership with the Dept. of Education, may be suitable for career pathway credit towards graduation.

Youth Conservation Corps - Summer jobs program providing hands on work experience along with environmental awareness opportunities for young people aged 14 - 21 These are environmentally focused, outdoor summer jobs, not a summer camp experience; Corps members should expect to work hard, get dirty, and make a difference.

Join a Friends Group

Delaware State Parks is fortunate to partner with 14 outstanding non-profit Friends Organizations who support the mission of the parks. Look into the many ways Friends groups make an impact and consider becoming a "Friend" of Delaware State Parks.
